Summer Reading List

With a new course to teach and ongoing spiritual and Franciscan formation, I have a pretty extensive list of books to read this summer. Some I've read before - but in a few cases it's been decades!

The Road to Assisi (Sabatier)
Year of Wonders (Brooks)
A Thousand Splendid Suns (Hosseini)
Obasan (Kogawa)
The Complete Thinker: The Marvelous Mind of G. K. Chesterton (Ahlquist)
The Space Between Us (Umrigar)
Grendel (Gardner)
King Lear
Nickel and Dimed (Ehrenreich)
The Awakening (Chopin)
A Room of One's Own (Woolf)
On Heaven and Earth (Bergoglio and Skorka)
Pope Francis (Rubin and Ambrogetti)
Francis of Assisi (Cunningham)
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (Austen and Grahame-Smith) (just for fun!)

There's more - but this is where I'm starting!

I am a heavy reader, yet find that a goodly percentage of my choices are just so-so. If I review a book on my blog, it is one which I would recommend. Could I ask that as you read your list --- most of which I have not read --- that you post a review of those which would offer insights beyond the basics?

DNBA- I'll do that. Keep in mind that some of these books were on the previous teacher's reading list that I've been given. I'm reading them because the students have to - and I have to test them on these books.

I am looking forward to reading "King Lear" again, though! The title role is one I would love to play some day.
