Church Fathers

One of my spiritual goals is to read more of the Church Fathers. I have read some in the past, but it has been some time, so the reading included rereading.

I just reread Clement of Rome's First Letter to the Corinthians

I next plan to reread the Didache.

Some other works I have read before and plan to reread are:

Ignatius of Antioch's Letters to the Ephesian, the Magnesians, the Trallians, the Romans, the Philadelphians, the Smyrneans, and to Polycarp, then Polycarp's letter to the Philippians and the Martyrdom of Polycap.

But I also have a couple of new ones to read: The Epistle of Diognetus and The Epistle of Barnabas.

The Word on Fire Press has a new collection containing some of the above, but also The Shepherd of Hermas, and the apologetic writings of St. Justin Martyr, St. Irenaeus, and Tertullian. I must order that one at some point.

What I have found so far is that these works help to show the young Catholic Church and the development of its liturgy and teachings, and that the issues of today are many of the same issues they faces back then.

Pax et bonum
